Woman in Real Estate working productively

Time. Our one truly limited resource. Why Time Management matters.

In today’s world, time is more precious than ever before. We are all expected to do more in less time, and as a result, many of us feel like we are always rushing around and never have enough time to get everything done. Especially if you are a real estate professional!

If you feel like you are always short on time, it is important to find ways to cut down on the time you waste every day. By doing so, you can free up more time to focus on the things that are truly important to you and will move your business forward.

Hopefully that list sparked some ideas for you to try out in your business today.

I also want to touch on one of the biggest time wasters in our tech-enabled society today.

 Distractions!

We all know that feeling: You sit down at your desk, ready to start your day, and then... you get sidetracked. Maybe you check your email one last time, or scroll through social media, or start texting with a colleague or friend. Next thing you know, an hour has passed and you haven't accomplished anything.

If this sounds familiar, don't worry - you're not alone. According to a recent study, the average person wastes about 3 hours every day. But the good news is that there are ways to cut down on the time you waste. Here are a few more helpful tips:

  • Set a time limit for certain activities, like checking email or social media. Once your time is up, move on to something else.

  • Make a list of things you need to accomplish each day, and then stick to it.

  • Hide your phone during productive times. I know this sounds funny, but I turn my phone to silent and then place it in another room so I can’t see it light up with a text or call. Then when my focused time is done, I retrieve my phone and follow up on anything I missed.

Distractions are brutal in a real estate entrepreneur’s day. We can now be contacted via phone, text, email, and social media DM’s on multiple profiles. No wonder it is challenging to remain focused on our day-to-day business, much less our long-term business growth.

There are a lot of things that can steal our time without us even realizing it. It's important to be aware of our own time-wasting habits so that we can work to eliminate them.
